Politicians have voted in favour of a £4.3m scheme to improve a major route in Douglas.
The cracked and crumbling Peel Road will be reconstructed from the Quarterbridge to the Brown Bobby.
The work will be carried out in phases and will begin next month now that Tynwald permission has been granted.
Motorists will face disruption for more than a year and a half while the work is carried out.
The money is coming from the government’s capital funds and will be repaid over 25 years.
