Tynwald's approval is to be sought for controversial changes to income support.
If approved lone parents with older children will no longer qualify for income support simply because they carry single parent status.
As it stands lone parents with children under 16 can claim income support without having to look for work or even to prepare for work to qualify.
The Department of Social Care have identified that in most cases lone parents would be financially better off if they were in work.
If Tynwald approve the changes they would come into effect on 1st April:
