The public is being consulted over plans to increase building regulation fees for the next three years.
It all relates to the work needed before building can start - that’s the assessing of submitted plans and on-site inspections.
For a standard-sized house, under the new proposals, there would be an overall rise of £5 with plan submission increasing to £30 and on-site inspection costing £90.
In England and Wales a similar job would cost more than £300.
Director of planning and building Michael Gallagher outlined why they need to put the prices up:
