Plans to overhaul the GCSE curriculum have been slammed by a local teaching union.
UK Education Secretary Michael Gove has expressed his desire to narrow the curriculum - something that's been described as a backwards step.
It’s a move that is feared would only benefit the top percentage of achieving pupils.
However any decision made in the UK would not necessarily affect the Isle of Man
Andrew Shipley, who is secretary for the Island branch of the ATL union, says in the event this system is introduced the Island would have the freedom to ‘go it alone’:
