Government has confirmed that the redevelopment of Peel Road in Douglas will take at least 71 weeks and cost £5million.
If approved by Tynwald work is scheduled to start between Quarterbridge roundabout to the Brown Bobby petrol station in March.
The Department of Infrastructure claims this won’t clash with phase one of Douglas Promenade’s redevelopment, which is also due to start later this year.
Contingency plans are in place for traffic when the project starts, which will also include significant work on Pulrose Road.
Concern has already been raised over the length of time it will take to complete the work but minister David Cretney says it’s crucial to do it right:
