Michael MHK, Alf Cannan, has said there is a sense of elation around the village after plans for a major housing development have now been definitively scrapped.
The application from Heritage Homes would have seen the creation of 95 homes in Kirk Michael.
It’s been a long drawn out battle between the developers and those protesting the plans, with a land swap with the local school proposed at one point to allow for an access road.
An independent inspector had the final say on the application, with the council of ministers endorsing his recommendation.
