The Treasury Minister has told the House of Keys how much Government set to save by means testing high earning parents of future university students.
Michael MHK Alf Cannan asked Minister Teare how many couples have a gross income before tax of £100,000 or more, and how much money means testing will bring back into the coffers.
The answer revealed that just shy of 2000 couples qualify in that income bracket, with the savings means testing would bring calculated at just over £1 million.
The answer was based on the 2010/11 tax year, which was the most recent year complete information was available.
