How much did the court case surrounding the Douglas East by-election cost?
That’s the question being posed by Middle MHK Howard Quayle in today’s House of Keys sitting.
The seven week court case concluded in October and saw one man jailed for deliberately misusing the proxy voting system.
Mr Quayle wants the Treasury Minister to reveal the costs of the advocates, legal aid, police investigation and figures for how much it cost to hire lawyers from the UK.
The Attorney General’s Chambers previously said it wasn’t possible to determine how much money had been spent – however Chief Minister Allan Bell says provisional figures put it at around £3 million:
