Tenants of public sector housing could find their rents altered in future to reflect their income.
Steps are being taken to introduce means testing.
As a precursor, the Department of Social Care has announced this week that it is bringing in two year fixed-term tenancies for new tenants.
Means testing would mean the Department of Social Care could make sure people are in properties that are the right size for them and their families.
Also In future, people whose earnings have increased in the years since their properties were allocated could find they’re not entitled to public sector housing anymore.
Minister Chris Robertshaw believes people may have been wrongly panicked by the introduction of the two-year tenancies.
