A decision on whether tuition fees should be brought in for Island students has been postponed once again.

The Department of Education and Children took proposals to Tynwald yesterday which would have seen students made to pay at least £2,500 per year.

Minister Tim Crookall also announced a series of revisions to the original plans, revealing that now all students would be eligible to receive a government loan to help meet the costs.

Means tested contributions were also revised jumping from £80,000 to £100,000.

However politicians said they felt they hadn’t had enough time to process the new information and the proposals were withdrawn until the February sitting.

Director of Education Martin Barrow says the changes don’t mean the department has more money:
