Going to arbitration to solve the current bus dispute isn’t an option.
That’s according to the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure which says the outcome could be “untenable”.
Earlier this week the union Unite announced another bus strike which will take place next Thursday.
The union is calling on the government to go to arbitration – a resolution process where a third party makes a decision which is legally binding.
However chief executive Nick Black says this could lead to them accepting a settlement they can’t fund:
