The Island’s new chief constable will be officially sworn into the position later this week.
It will be a historic day for Gary Roberts who becomes the first Manxman to take up the role.
He’s also the first chief constable that has served in every other rank in the Isle of Man Constabulary.
Mr Roberts says he feels “proud and privileged” to be allowed to lead the force but admits that the next five years will be challenging due to budgetary restraints.
He says ensuring that the trust and support of the community is maintained will be his main priority going forward.
The swearing in ceremony will take place at the Courts of Justice on Friday afternoon.
