A 17-year-old will appear in court tomorrow morning following a violent assault which has left a man in intensive care.
The Douglas youth has been charged with one offence of grievous bodily harm following the incident on Loch Promenade in Douglas in the early hours of Saturday.
The accused was charged yesterday morning and is currently being detained at Police Headquarters.
The 33-year-old injured man from Peel is currently in a serious condition at Walton Neurological Hospital in Merseyside where he is being treated for major head injuries.
Two members of his family are with him and they are being kept informed of the investigation by Manx police officers who have also travelled to Liverpool.
However, contrary to rumour, police have been quick to state there were no weapons involved in the attack.
Information is still urgently sought regrading the occupants of a dark-coloured car which left the area of Bordello nightclub at the time of the alleged assault.
The car is known to have driven down Walpole Avenue towards Lord Street.
Police are strictly reminding people not to make statements on social media websites but rather contact them directly with any information. They say inaccurate information and rumours posted online will only hinder the investigation.
