Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw says he stands by the appointment of ATOS Healthcare to carry out the work of assessing a person’s capability for work.
In July the Department of Social Care embarked on a six month trial, endeavouring to assess a person’s capability for work, in relation to the incapacity benefits they claim.
Concern had been expressed about the face to face evaluations, carried out by staff from ATOS.
Minister Robertshaw says he is extremely impressed by their professionalism and describes them as eminently qualified to perform the work they have been engaged to do.
A presentation about the Personal Capability Assessment will be given to Members of Tynwald on Wednesday of next week.
