The Director of Highways says it's back to the drawing board if plans to revamp Douglas Promenade don’t please the public.
A consultation on ideas to improve the area finished recently and the responses are currently being compiled.
People were asked to comment on things like moving the horse trams nearer to the sea and changing the width of carriageways and parking.
Treasury has approved, in principle, a spend of £17.5 million for the project which could take up to 10 years to complete.
