Police on the Island could see their powers improved in an effort to help combat serious organised crime.

The Department of Home Affairs has concluded a consultation on the Criminal Justice, Police Powers and Other Amendments Bill.

It’s in an effort to help shape new legislation to ensure police officers can meet the challenges of the 21st century.

During the public consultation, and meetings with the Police Consultative Forum, views were expressed on a wide range of issues including bail, arrest procedures and warrants.
