The Department of Community Culture and Leisure says it has contingency plans in place should Island bus drivers go on strike.
Around 100 workers are involved in a dispute with the department which wants to cut their paid lunch breaks to save costs.
It was confirmed this week by the driver's union Unite that drivers are to vote on whether or not to stage a walkout.
