A petition will be handed to the Chief Minister today urging government to keep to its promises on overseas aid.
It’s being spearheaded by the Point1 campaign group.
Campaigners are seeking a commitment from Tynwald to raise the level of financial support to 0.07 per cent of the gross national income – the standard set by the United Nations.
In 2004 Tynwald committed to donating this figure annually by 2015.
Almost 2,000 of the Island’s eligible voters have signed the petition.
We spoke to Helen Ashcroft from Point1 to find out what the message is to those who feel the money could be better spent closer to home:
