Island gets seal of approval for stargazing

Seven sites around the Isle of Man have received the seal of approval for stargazing – thanks to low levels of light pollution.

The well-known beauty spots – including Port Soderick, Niarbyl and Fort Island – have been designated as Dark Sky Discovery Sites.

It’s part of an international scheme operated by the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council and puts the Island on the map as having the largest concentration of sites in the British Isles.

Director of Manx National Heritage Edmund Southworth says this could be positive news for the economy:
