The Chief Minister has told Tynwald that he wasn’t aware that the Chief Executive Officer of Economic Development had been seconded for four months to a position in Sark.
Allan Bell was responding to a question from MHK for Middle Howard Quayle when he told the court he wasn’t aware he’d applied for the position or been appointed until after the process had taken place.
He said regardless of his opinion on the move it is well within the guidelines of a civil service position to allow for short term absence, such as secondment and development opportunities.
The Ramsey MHK also moved to reassure Tynwald members that it won’t diminish government’s commitment to economic growth in any way.
