Bus drivers forced to reapply for jobs or face unemployment
Mon, 15 Oct 2012
Bus drivers are to reapply for their jobs if they want to continue in their roles.
The announcement came after the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure failed to agree on terms via a ballot.
Notice has been given to all employees, if they agree to the new conditions it'll be effective from the day after reapplication.
If they do not agree, they'll no longer work with the department.
DCCL Chief Executive Nick Black says they've been forced into this position after numerous attempts to come to an agreement with the Unite union.
He says the financial year's coming to an end and this is a cost-saving measure that must be implemented as soon as possible.
