It’s been confirmed that the Island’s Attorney General and the Deputy Assessor of Income Tax have had their employment suspended.
Stephen Harding and Colin Goodwin appeared in court yesterday charged with a number of offences whereby they conspired to commit an act against public justice.
Both men were bailed and will appear in court again on November 21st.
Today a government spokesperson has confirmed the prosecution is being led by English Council.
It means the Criminal Prosecutions Division within the Attorney General’s Chambers has had no involvement whatsoever with the investigation and consequent prosecution.
The Chief Secretary’s Office is now working with relevant parties to ensure the functions of the Attorney General continue to be carried out in his absence.
No further statements are expected while court proceedings are ongoing.
