It was announced on tvim yesterday that regeneration plans are finally in place for the Douglas Promenade.
A planning application has been submitted for approval, if given the go ahead Minister Cretney will then be seeking the funding from Tynwald for the £17 million project.
The prom is a feature of the Douglas landscape that has come in for fierce criticism over the years due to the damaged road surface.
It’s been over 80 years since extensive work was last carried out on the stretch of highway.
It’s anticipated that the work could take anywhere from 5 to 10 years, with the project to be carried out in stages.
Director of Highways, Richard Pearson told us that the hundreds of responses to the public consultation have helped shape their plans for the prom:
