Poor staffing prompts government to inspect jobs

The Department of Social Care is re-grading a number of healthcare jobs in an effort to ensure staff levels at a southern EMI unit are maintained.

It follows the temporary closure of the Gansey Unit at Southlands last month as a result of staffing falling below an acceptable level.

Now the department says grading issues have been resolved which will remove the obstacles in trying to recruit new employees.

The unit is set to reopen next month and the eight affected residents will be moved from Douglas back to the south.
