The head of workers' union Unite has said negotiations with the DCCL will restart immediately if an agreement can't be reached over bus drivers' wages.
The result of the ballot will be revealed on Friday following weeks of negotiations with the department.
Government has proposed the equivalent of a 12 per cent pay cut to the drivers' annual wage and it was alleged by the union they were threatened with the sack if they declined.
Possible strike action hasn't been ruled out, although Eric Holmes hopes this won't be the case:
