Geoff Karran to get Freedom award this afternoon

Geoff Karran MBE will be awarded Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Douglas this afternoon.

Douglas Council is holding a special event to mark Mr Karran’s achievement which is in recognition of his dedication to charity and for his support of Manx sport.

Manx born Geoff has had a long and distinguished career in law, being the youngest advocate ever to be admitted to the Manx Bar, before his retirement in 2007.

In 2008 he received an MBE for services to sport and the disabled and also served as chairman of last year’s Commonwealth Youth Games organising committee.

The ceremony is being held at Douglas Town Hall.
