Jobseekers will no longer be able to sign on for benefits in Castletown as the social security office is being closed in a cost saving exercise.
The Department of Social Care will shut the southern office at the end of this month saying it will save them £6,000 a year.
It’s because many of the services can now be provided over the phone or on the internet.
The department also says the Old Customs House is no longer fit for purpose and would need significant investment.
Those signing on for benefits will have the option to attend the offices in Port Erin or Douglas.
