Should government be reducing the amount of money it donates in foreign aid to spend more money on the Island?
That’s a question that’s been raised this week after it was revealed that the Overseas Aid Committee had donated money to Sierra Leone and Sudan.
The committee donates £50,000 each month to some of the world’s poorest countries often after natural disasters.
However many people have criticised the decision especially after government has cut back on a number of services it provides on-island blaming budgetary problems.
Chairman of the Overseas Aid Committee Phil Gawne admits the money could be used on the Island but that he doesn’t agree that it should be:
