Permission for new Topshop store granted

Thu, 06 Sep 2012

Strand Street looks set for a major development after permission was granted for a new Topshop store.

Kane Holdings which owns Tynwald Mills had approval to develop the old Leisure Amusement Arcade granted on Tuesday.

It follows an application submitted in July which was for the demolition of the arcade and the erection of a Topshop store with associated accommodation.

Pictures of the proposed site show a modern glass fronted store with two interior levels.

According to the Department of Infrastructure the developer now has to wait 21 days until the planning decision is formally issued and work can start.

However scaffolding has gone up around the unit and some demolition work has already taken place inside.

Objections to the granted application are not expected as no parties raised concerns during the initial application phase.
