A key figure in Isle of Man sport has passed away at the age of 86.
Geoff Corlett, the man who conceived the Island Games died last Wednesday.
Back in 1985 the keen sportsman was given the duty of organising the first Inter-Island Games, an event which has encouraged and developed local sporting talent since and acted as a launch pad for some of the Island’s major sporting stars.
A sportsman even upto his later years Geoff celebrated turning 85 last year by participating in a triathlon event raising money for the Craig Heartstrong Foundation in the process.
Someone who knew Geoff very well was Chairman of Isle of Man sport, Geoff Karran, he said he’ll be sorely missed at next year’s Island Games in Bermuda.
