It’s hoped that the Mountain Road will be repaired in time for the start of today’s Manx Grand Prix festival.
Yesterday heavy rains forced the closure of the road, between the Ramsey Hairpin and the Creg Naa Baa, after it was severely flooded.
A large amount of debris was washed onto the road and sections of the road at the 32nd Milestone and Keppel Gate lifted and failed due to ground water pressure.
Infrastructure repair teams are relaying the road as quickly as possible to try and ensure racing can still take place.
However Director of Highways Richard Pearson said it’s still unclear as to how things stand.
