Lifeboat crew have urged the public to ensure their children are wearing lifejackets if taking part in any water sport activities.
It follows a dramatic rescue on Sunday which saw a young boy, believed to be between four and six, swept out to sea.
The boy was on a small kayak in the Glen Wyllin area when he was caught by strong offshore winds which saw him dragged two miles out to sea.
A local fishing vessel came to the boy’s aid before he was met by Peel lifeboat who returned him to shore to reunite him with his mother.
Mal Kelly from Peel Lifeboat said in this instance the boy wasn’t wearing a life jacket and this was vitally important.
