Mark Cavendish to assist BBC commentary team

Despite his Olympic medal campaign ending with disappointment Mark Cavendish will be back in the spotlight today as part of BBC’s commentary team.

The World Champion will be joining the team for the track cycling coverage.

It’s been a disappointing week for Cav who went into Saturday’s road race as odds on favourite to pick up the gold for Team GB; something that would have made him the first Manx gold recipient in a century.

But after a late breakaway from his team failed to materialise, he had to settle for 29th place.

However it’s done little to mar what has been undoubtedly the most successful twelve months o the Manx Missile's career.
