The government is announcing a major review of the benefit system.
The Island's current policies are similar to those in place in the UK, where a review has found that the system isn't fit for purpose and hasn't been for some time.
A public consultation has been launched to guage the public's views.
In future, the Department of Social Care wants a system that's well-balanced, protects the vulnerable and can't be easily abused by people who don't need hand-outs.
