The DEFA Minister has revealed that a working group has been set up to help ensure that Port St Mary bay is protected.
Phil Gawne chaired a meeting last week to listen to public concerns about the negative impact on the marine environment which is allegedly being caused by local scallop dredgers.
Over 100 people including fishermen, anglers and divers attended the event to put their views for practical ways to ensure the area was protected enough to make sure everyone benefitted.
Mr Gawne said positive steps would be made before the scallop season started on November 1st:
