RAF rescues injured fisherman

Sat, 21 Jul 2012

A fisherman is being treated in Noble's Hospital after he was badly hurt in an incident at sea.

An RAF helicopter was called to the aid of the man who was working on a small trawler when he was injured.

A paramedic was winched down to the vessel and began treating the man as the boat made its way to Peel.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service was called out to help move the casualty from the boat to an ambulance which was waiting on the breakwater.

The RAF Sea King helicopter landed on Peel beach to wait for the winchman who had been sent down to treat the injured man.

There is no update available on the man's current condition or nature of his injuries.
