The Department of Education and Children is preparing to hand over the Park Road School site to the Department of Social Care.
After 118 years, the school bell rang for the last time this week.
It's not yet been confirmed what Social Care plans to do with the site.
The government also owns the adjacent plot of land, which is home to the Bowling Green Pub.
From September, years 7 and 8 pupils from Park Road and year 9 students from St Ninian's will be taught at the new £34m facility at Bemahague in Onchan.
Minister Tim Crookall says they're just putting the finished touches to the new school:[play media file below]
