Just one company remains in the running to develop a new casino complex on the Island.
When the government decided to grant a second licence, expressions of interest were sought from companies prepared to develop a casino and a new five-star hotel.
Seven firms came forward originally, but the Department of Economic Development didn't feel it had enough information to be able to evaluate their seriousness, capabilities and financial soundness.
They were then asked to give a presentation to back up their bids - but after this process only one company was deemed worthy enough to make it to the tender stage.
The Council of Ministers has now asked the DED to pursue the one remaining interested party to find out its progress and the viability of the scheme.
