The Office of Fair Trading has warned people against buying heavily discounted memory foam mattresses saying they are highly dangerous.
Enforcement officers recently bought two mattresses from a trader selling from a van and sent them away for testing.
Tests showed that the filling material failed an ignitability test – with the OFT warning that they don’t comply with current safety regulations and are highly flammable.

Anyone who is concerned that they have purchased a mattress like this is asked to contact Trading Standards on 686520.
