Local authorities are being asked to follow new guidance in a battle to keep the Island's pigeon population under control.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says the use of town centres by the birds is causing concern among local businesses and residents.
It believes the problem lies with members of the public who are feeding the pigeons outside of designated feeding zones and those who litter around food outlets.
The department says while it can provide guidance and advice it is crucial that authorities fully address the issue as there are no short term fixes.
Director of Environment Martin Hall says simply culling the birds isn't an option: (play media file below)
