The Water and Sewerage Authority is advising people to keep boiling their drinking water today as a precaution.
Reservoir water which is fed to the Douglas treatment works was found to contain high levels of sediment after the rainfall at the weekend.
It happened over a three hour period on Sunday, when the raw water is said to have changed the chemical balance of the treatment process.
The ‘boil water notice’ was issued for 48 hours and is due to expire this evening (Tuesday).
Schools are not affected by the problem - with children being offered bottled water instead.
