"Very large black pig" found safe and well

In a more unusual appeal, police asked for the help of motorists this weekend in locating a "very large black pig" which had gone missing in the area of Peel Coast Road.

Using the constabulary’s media page on Facebook, police asked motorists to take care in the area while the animal was located.

A further update posted hours later revealed the pig had been found after falling into a ditch in a field.

The farmer was able to rescue it with the animal suffering no ill effects from its ordeal.
