A warning has gone out to the public to be wary of ‘cowboy builders'.
The Office of Fair Trading is aware of a number of builders who fall into this category currently plying their door to door trade around the Island.
Traditionally consumers have been persuaded to accept offers of work because they are cheaper than local builders and can start right away.
However any work carried out is likely to be of a poor quality, with shoddy materials used and any guarantees provided are likely to be worthless.
The OFT say the public should be instantly wary of any builders who cold call, and should never be pressurised into employing them.
