Infrastructure Minister David Cretney will put forward proposals today to radically change the way the Island’s telecommunications companies install phone masts.
The department will move to pass a revised telecoms permitted development order – meaning any mobile masts would have to go through public consultation or rights of appeal.
Up until now Manx Telecom has been granted permitted development rights – and not Sure.
The department says it is an effort to even out the playing field.
