Police have warned the public against posting information on social networking sites in relation to active investigations.
It comes after a man allegedly approached a six year old boy in the Harcroft Meadows area of Douglas earlier this week.
The subject has since been discussed on the internet and police say this has resulted in significant speculation as to who may be responsible.
They have appealed to people to avoid naming individuals on the sites as it could have legal ramifications.
