Police are investigating after reports that a six year old boy was approached by a man in Harcroft Meadows in Douglas on Monday morning.
The man is described as white, aged between 30 and 50, with shoulder length dark greasy hair which was greying.
He was wearing spectacles and was of unkempt appearance, wearing a tan coloured Barbour style coat and blue jeans.
The man left the area on an old style bicycle which was possibly red in colour.
Police say the enquiry is ongoing and a number of lines are being pursued.
However Inspector Derek Flint said contrary to belief on social networking sites, there hasn’t been an increase of similar incidents on the Island:
