The Department of Economic Development has confirmed it will not be appointing a new Head of E-Gaming – despite the area being integral to the Island’s economy.
Seven months after the departure of Garth Kimber, and an unsuccessful search to find a replacement, a restructuring exercise has now been carried out instead.
A team of five existing employees will now be responsible for the continued growth of the industry – although the decision not to appoint a new head may be seen as controversial.
E-Gaming is the fastest growing industry on the Island and cited as the primary reason why the Isle of Man hasn’t gone into recession.
Economic Development Minister John Shimmin disputed that this was a backwards step:
