The Island’s Chief Minister has responded to a letter asking the government to publically condemn the atrocities in Syria.
Last week Bishop Robert Patterson wrote to Allan Bell saying the world was dismayed at the civil unrest in the country and the continued violations of peace agreements.
The Bishop said he trusted that the government was keeping a watching brief on the on-going suppression of free speech there, and in other countries, so that the economy did not profit from other’s pain.
Mr Bell said he echoed the Bishop’s sentiments but said the Isle of Man was already playing its part:
