Honda Legends rider suffers broken bones in Superbike crash

Sat, 02 Jun 2012

Honda Legends rider Simon Andrews is being treated for multiple fractures following a crash in today's Superbike race.

Andrews was on the first lap of the opening race when he came off his 1000cc Fireblade at the Graham Memorial on the mountain section of the course.

A statement from his team says the 27 year old was conscious and taken to hospital, where he is suffering from a cracked shoulder, broken wrist and broken ankle.

He is alert and chatting with his chief mechanic, who is with him at the hospital.

It was Andrews' second year competing in the Isle of Man TT and last week he'd managed to clock up an impressive lap speed of 127mph during the practice sessions.
