Fire crews and police are investigating a suspicious fire in Peel.
Firefighters were called out at 10pm yesterday (Wednesday) to reports of smoke and flames coming from the Raggatt at the back of the golf course.
The gorse and undergrowth was well alight and local crews needed to call for back-up from Douglas station.
The fire had taken hold in two places and access at the site made the job difficult for firefighters.
They managed to bring the blaze under control within an hour.
Crews say without quick intervention the fire could have become more serious and carried on burning through the night.
It’s the second serious fire at the Raggatt in the last year and the public are asked to be on the look out for any suspicious activity in the area.
Anyone who knows who might be responsible is asked to call Peel Police Station.
